Journal "A Time to Play"

This is my first vintage style junk journal. It doesn't follow a specific theme other than me wanting to play around, having fun experimenting. Even though I buy digital kits from time to time I try to make as much ephemera myself as I can using as much "junk" as possible.

A click on the picture will enlarge it.

The base for the cover is packaging stuff used to protect fragile goods from breaking. I love its woven texture and sturdiness. Before layering acrylic paint on it I put on a layer of Mod Podge.

The picture on the front cover is fabric that I stamped on and painted with watercolours. When I made this I had no idea I would put it on a journal cover. That happened a bit later and inspired the purpose and hence the title "A Time to Play".

The background paper for this page is a digital I designed in Procreate.

The fabric for the tag I rusted with the help of black tea and then put on corrugated cardboard. The picture of the woman I found at the flea market in Hanover. Btw: The little ornament at the top used to be silver. I put some alcohol ink on it, because I wanted it very dark. For the pocket I used tea dyed gauze.

A bit of grunge with a coffee filter flower as the focal point...

Stamped on old book page and tea rusted gauze for the background. The flowers and butterfly are Stabilo all activated with gel medium, then coloured in with water colour.

Tea rusted fabric, stamped on. At the bottom I used texture paste, a wall stencil and various distress inks to make a wall. Some coconut fibers and moss to make look a bit "alive". The veiled lady is a digital I bought on Etsy. For the veil and the tag topper I used cut offs from fly screen.

To put it into my journal I distressed corrugated cardboard and made a pocket of fly screen.

More grunge with a stenciled feather on distressed gauze as a focal point.

To be continued...
